Vocalist Elise Mark and composer Susanna Payne-Passmore will present their collaborative endeavor—a new composition inspired by Marjorie Pickthall's evocative poem "Stars," as part of the Penn Sound Collective on Friday, December 8th.
Stemming from a previous improvisational performance of the poem, this piece delves into the depths of artistic improvisation and experimentation, weaving Elise's instinctive vocal storytelling with Susanna's collaborative piano textures. Join us for a premiere that promises an insightful glimpse into the creative process and the seamless fusion of voice and composition.
This piece is one of many included in the evening’s concert, featuring additional new music by the University of Pennsylvania’s Doctoral student composers.
